ArSiC is a lightweight high performance composite which can withstand temperatures above 1200⁰C (long-term oxidising environment). ArSiC is composed of SiC fibers embedded in SiC matrix. This leads to a damage tolerant material compared to monolithic SiC. ArSiC is lighter than superalloys and can withstand temperatures higher than superalloys melting point. ArSiC is being developed with a cost efficient melt infiltration process along with improved oxidation resistant fibers.
