Materials
Overview
Lightweight
Materials lighter than metal alloys
Ultra-high temperature resistance
Composites which can withstand temperatures above 1500° C
Low co-efficient of thermal expansion
Extremely low CTE ensures stability during temperature differences
High specific strength and stress resistance
Our innovation enhances the mechanical and fatigue strength of the structure
Corrosion resistance
Does not rust like a metal and performs better under influence of chemicals
No detectable outgassing
Environmentally stable. No swelling or detectable outgassing in vacuum allows the use of our composites near optics
Types of Materials
Carbeon
Carbeon (previously known as ArCarb) combines the properties of carbon fiber and silicon carbide which results in a damage tolerant and high performance C/C-SiC composite. Carbeon can be highly tailored based on project specific requirements by optimising manufacturing and design parameters.
Main Advantages:
- Ultra-High temperature stable* (long-term non-oxidising environment)
- Near zero coefficient of thermal expansion
- No detectable outgassing
- Enhanced fatigue life and damage tolerant
- High wear & abrasion resistant
- Lighter than aluminium
- Fast manufacturing process
